Lucy and her son Chris McClean are taking on the challenge of Kokoda, walking in the footsteps of our grandfather/great grandfather for a great cause. 

We are making a difference by fundraising for the MATES program that supports mental health and suicide prevention. The tragic stats tell us that 1 in 20 think about taking their life in any given 12 month period. 1 in 5 experience a significant mental health episode in any given year and 1 in 2 of us will have a major mental health episode in our life time. The human cost in terms of grief and loss is enormous without even considering the cost of lost productivity, wages, skills and investment.

The MATES program works on the ground at sites, depots, mines, and offices to set up workplaces where we can identify mates who are struggling. We then have conversations, often live saving conversations, and connect them to the right sort of help. At the pointy end, we go in and intervene in suicides.

This work needs boots on the ground. For that to happen we need funds to do this critical work.
